We’ve come through the desert and now we sit here in the shade. Though we’re not where we were heading, just look how far we’ve come.
I now see the beauty in the days that have gone by.
Each day, I remind myself to treasure what I have. Look how far I’ve come!
Responsive Reading for January 26
“Then King David came in and sat in the LORD’s presence, and said: ‘Who am I, LORD God, and what is my house, that you should have brought me so far? … For you have made a promise regarding your servant’s house reaching into the future. Bring about what you have promised” (I Chronicles 17:16-17).
“Hasn’t it been great?… Let’s talk about the future. Let’s cool off with the rain.’”
“I will give the seasonal rain to your land, the early rain and the late rain … and I will bring forth grass in your fields…. Now you are about to … enter and possess the land which the LORD, your God, is giving you” (Deuteronomy 11:14-31).
We’ve come through the desert and now we sit here in the shade.
Though we’re not where we were heading, just look how far we’ve come.
“Praise the LORD, for he is good; for his mercy endures forever …. [Praise the LORD] Who led the people through the desert, for his mercy endures forever” (Psalm 136).
I now see the beauty in the days that have gone by.
“Surely, the LORD, your God, has blessed you in all your undertakings; he has been concerned about your journey through this vast wilderness …. The LORD, your God, has been with you, and you have lacked nothing” (Deuteronomy 2:7).
Each day, I remind myself to treasure that I have. Look how far I’ve come!
