Love Your Inner-Mes – Leddy Hammock

Leddy Hammock in St. LouisInspired by lyrics to “With Love in My Heart” by Tim Burnaman

I am not glad when someone who has hurt me is hurt.
I treat others as I want to be treated.

When I have felt hurt by others, I forgive.
Now, joy heals me and brightens up my day,
showing me how to let go of anger and hurt.

In time, life reveals how I can show the inner strength that I know:
With love in my heart, I give love away and love comes back to me.

With love in my heart, I give love away.
Yes, it all comes back and makes a better day.
I know that now’s the time to start letting go of fear,
with love in my heart.

“Rejoice not when your enemy falls, and when he stumbles, let not your heat exult . . . . If your enemy be hungry, give him food to eat, if he be thirsty, give him [something] to drink” (Proverbs 24:17; 25:21).

I am not glad when someone who has hurt me is hurt.
I treat others as I want to be treated.

Jesus taught: “Agree with your adversary [opponent] quickly” (Mt. 5:25). “But to you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you . . . . Do to others as you would have them do to you. For if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? . . . And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you?” (Luke 24: 27-33).

When I have felt hurt by others, I forgive.
Now, joy heals me and brightens up my day,
showing me how to let go of anger and hurt.

“But rather, love your enemies and do good to them …. then your reward will be great and you will be children of the Most High …. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful” (Lk. 6:36).

In time, life reveals how I can show the inner strength that I know:
With love in my heart, I give love away and love comes back to me.

“Finally, all of you, be of one mind, sympathetic, loving toward one another, compassionate, humble. Do not return evil for evil, or insult for insult; but on the contrary, a blessing because to this you were called, that you might inherit a blessing . . . . Turn from evil and do good, seek peace and follow after it” (I Peter 3:8-10).

With love in my heart, I give love away.
Yes, it all comes back and makes a better day.
I know that now’s the time to start letting go of fear,
with love in my heart.
