“Mirror, Mirror” – Leddy Hammock

“Mirror, Mirror” – Leddy Hammock

Inspired by lyrics from “The Part of Me that Is You” by Sue Riley & Richard Mekdeci:

“When the world tells me I’m less than whole,
I hear these words, spoken from my soul: ‘A Child of Mine will not inherit disease.’  I am a Child of peace.

The part of me that is You knows only health and wholeness.
The part of me that is You knows only love and joy.
The part of me that is You is divine and ageless, like a compass pointing to a north that’s true.
Then I remember what my heart already knows.

When I feel my back’s against the wall, I hear a voice say, ‘Fight!’ but I refuse the call.
As Your Child, I choose the higher road and I know You’ll always be there if I fall.

You are the Truth of who I am.  I am a Child of peace.
When my self-respect is fading fast, frozen in the present,
Haunted by the past, I look in the mirror and I see Your face and I remember what my heart already has.  I bless the part of me that is You.”–the fairest of the fair.

“Stand still and consider the wondrous works of God… .  Dost thou know … the wondrous works of Him who is perfect in knowledge? . . . Hast thou with Him spread out the sky, which is strong and as a molten looking glass? (Job 37:14-18 KJV)

“When the world tells me I’m less than whole, I hear these words, spoken from my soul.
Then I remember what my heart already knows:  “The part of me that is You will not inherit disease.  The part of me that is You is divine and ageless, like a compass pointing to a north that’s true.  I bless the part of me that is You.”

“Blessed is a [person] who perseveres under trial; for…[that one] will receive the crown of life ….  Therefore, ridding yourselves … of all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted ….  For if anyone …is like a [person] who looks at [ones] natural face in a mirror; … and gone away, [that one] has immediately forgotten what kind of person [s/he] was. But one who has looked intently at the perfect law, the law of freedom, and has continued in it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an active doer, this person will be blessed in what [s/he] does” (Ja.1:12-25 NASB).

“When I feel my back’s against the wall, I hear a voice say, “Fight!” but I refuse the call.
As Your child, I choose the higher road and I know You’ll always be there if I fall.”

“For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully, just as I also have been fully known. But now faith, hope, and love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love” (I Cor.13:12-13 NASB).

“When my self-respect is fading fast, frozen in the present, haunted by the past,
I look in the mirror and I see Your face and I remember what my heart already has.”

For in Wisdom “is a spirit… clear, unstained, certain, never harmful, loving the good … kindly …secure, tranquil, all-powerful, all-seeing… Wisdom … pervades all things by reason of her purity.  For she is a breath of the might of God and a pure emanation of the glory of the Almighty… For she is the reflection of eternal light, the spotless mirror of the power of God, the image of his goodness …. For God loves nothing so much as the one who dwells with Wisdom. For she is fairer than the sun ….  Wickedness does not prevail over Wisdom” (Wis. 7:22-9).

The part of me that is You knows only health and wholeness.
The part of me that is You knows only love and joy.
You are the Truth of who I am”—the fairest of the fair.
