Debbie Frisch, the newest member of Unity’s Board of Directors, known for her sunny, positive attitude, attributes that in large part to the Unity way that she has learned to live. When speaking at a Sunday service last summer, she gave an unforgettable account of her experience with tithing, a word that once would have caused her to cringe. Encouraged by a friend, Debbie began tithing “a little bit at a time.” When she received a bonus or raise, she increased the amount and has repeatedly realized the prosperity of her decision. Citing a job loss when the company she had worked for was sold, Debbie says, “I knew in my heart I would be OK because I had been giving consistently and increasing my tithing on a regular basis.”
Two weeks after losing her job of 20 years, Debbie heard of a trip with Jana Stanfield to Spain and France, and, taking an amazing step out on faith, immediately committed to taking that trip, knowing that whatever was needed would be provided. During her unemployment, she received a grant to enroll in a class to increase her marketable skills. Next, a friend showed up needing a place to stay and rented a room from Debbie for six months, and before she left, Debbie was blessed with a great job opportunity.
“Now, I realize I can’t afford NOT to tithe,” Debbie says. “The best job came to me.” At Bright House, there were new challenges and opportunities for growth. Working with a great marketing team, she was called by her director the team’s “moral compass,” but when Charter purchased Bright House, the entire department of 10 was released.
Debbie first came to Unity 10 years ago. An invitation by a friend to attend her first PosiPalooza concert sealed the deal for becoming actively involved. She has never missed one Posi since. Upon sharing with Russ Hammock her conviction that “we should have more positive news channels,” he gave her the DJ’s name at emPower Music & Arts, and that led to the creation of a six-member reporting team, of which Debbie is a part, that now airs 30 minutes of positive news on emPower Positive Radio at 1 and 6 p.m. Eastern time Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
A director on the loft tech team, Debbie is a computer operations manager with a bachelor’s degree in computer science programming. Although she manifests obtaining a perfect new job, she will not worry or live in fear of that not happening. Soon to celebrate her 60th birthday, Debbie is open to whatever comes her way. In the meantime, she will volunteer for Metropolitan Ministries and may be a bell ringer for Salvation Army.
Debbie loves to travel but hates to leave her pet. His name is Sunny. He is a little parakeet and is extremely spoiled. She is planning a road trip to North Carolina at Christmas to visit friends, with lil’ Sunny at her side.
