Responsive Reading for March 26
“The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me; He has sent me to bring good news to the afflicted, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives,release to the prisoners”(Isaiah 61:1). “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me …. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives … to let the oppressed go free” (Lk. 4:18).
I am free, right where I am—a piece of the puzzle, a part of the plan.
“The Israelites groaned under their bondage and cried out, and from their bondage their cry for help went up to God…. God heard their moaning and God was mindful of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God saw the Israelites, and God knew…” (Ex. 2:23-24). “This daughter of Abraham … bound for eighteen years now, ought she not to have been set free … from this bondage?” (Lk. 13:16).
I won’t walk like a slave today, chained to my regret. I forgive, I won’t forget.
“To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul, my God, in you I trust …. My eyes are ever upon the Lord, who frees my feet from the snare…. Preserve my soul and rescue me … for in you I seek refuge” (Ps. 25:1-20). “A slave does not remain in a household forever, but a son always remains. So if a son frees you, then you will truly be free” (Jn. 8:35-6).
I won’t walk like a slave today, suffering to survive. I find myself alive.
“The Lord came to my support. He set me free in the open; he rescued me because he loves me” (II Sam .22:19,20). “If you remain in my word … you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (Jn. 8:31-2).
I am free, right where I am–by the Truth in each moment, by the Love heaven sent.
