“Dreamspeak” – Leddy Hammock

“Dreamspeak” – Leddy Hammock

Inspired by lyrics to “When We’re Talkin’ Dreams” by Sue Riley, Karen Taylor-Good, and Harold Payne:

A dream is just a seed we plant. Then we wait for it to grow.
We’ve been waiting patiently, I know.

We’re breathin’ so it’s not too late. There’s no expiration date when we’re talkin’ dreams, and we’re talkin’ dreams.

Anything can happen, long as we think it can.
Unexpected gifts await our outstretched hand.

There’s no expiration date when we’re talkin’ dreams, and we’re talkin’ dreams.

When Joseph was imprisoned in Egypt, he “asked Pharaoh’s officials who were with him in custody in his master’s house, ‘Why do you look so troubled today?’ They answered him, ‘We have had dreams, but there is no one to interpret them.’ Joseph said to them, ‘Do interpretations not come from God? Please tell me the dreams…. Only think of me when all is well with you, and please do me the great favor of mentioning me to Pharaoh, to get me out of this place” (Gen. 40:7-8, 14).

“Pharaoh therefore had Joseph summoned …. Pharaoh then said to Joseph: ‘I had a dream but there was no one to interpret it. But I hear it said of you, ‘If he hears a dream he can interpret it.’ ‘It is not I,’ Joseph replied to Pharaoh, ‘but God who will respond for the well-being of Pharaoh’” (Gen. 40:14-16).

“Things are just as I told Pharaoh: God has revealed to Pharaoh what he is about to do.… That Pharaoh had the same dream twice means that the matter has been confirmed by God and that God will soon bring it about” (Gen.41: 28-32).

King Belshezzar gave a great banquet for a thousand of his closest friends. “Suddenly. . . the fingers of a human hand appeared, writing on the plaster of the wall in the king’s palace.… The king shouted for the enchanters, astrologers, and Chaldeans to be brought in…. But … none of them could either read the writing or tell the king what it meant.” The queen suggested he send for Daniel, “who knew how to interpret dreams, explain enigmas, and solve difficulties.” Even though he hadn’t asked for any reward, they gave Daniel many gifts, because he could read the writing on the wall (Daniel, chapter 5).
