“Father’s Day” – Leddy Hammock

“Father’s Day” – Leddy Hammock

Inspired by lyrics from “Father’s Day” by Johnsmith

In my heart, I hear my Father say that He loves me.

“Like rain falling gently upon fallow ground.
I felt the fields of my heart turn green
on those few small words my father said to me.

So, now, I try to say ‘I love you’ every chance I get.

It’s funny how a few small words can run so deep, make a baby smile make a grown man weep.”

“The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in love …. You, LORD, are just in all your ways, faithful in all your works.  You, LORD are near to all who call upon you, to all who call upon you in truth ….  You hear their cry and save them” (Ps. 145:8-19).

The whole business of my Lord, the Father in me, is to care for me, to love me with an everlasting love, to note my slightest cry, and to rescue me.

“I called to him ….  God did hear and listened to my voice in prayer.  Blessed be God” (Ps. 66:17-20).

God, my Infinite Father, hears my every prayer and answers me in perfect ways.

“When you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you ….  Your Father knows what you need before you ask him” (Mt. 6:6-8).

In my heart, I hear my Father say that He loves me.  “Like rain falling gently upon fallow ground. I felt the fields of my heart turn green on those few small words my father said to me.”

“Isaac spoke to his father Abraham. ‘Father!’ he said. ‘Here I am,’ he replied. Isaac continued, ‘Here are the fire and the wood, but where is the sheep for the burnt offering?’ ‘My son,’ Abraham answered, ‘God will provide the sheep for the burnt offering.’ Then the two walked on together. When they came to the place of which God had told him, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. Next he bound his son Isaac, and put him on top of the wood on the altar ….  But the angel of the LORD called to him … ‘Abraham, Abraham!’ ‘Here I am,’ he answered.  ‘Do not lay your hand on the boy,’ said the angel. ‘Do not do the least thing to him. …Since you did not withhold from me your son, your only one.’ Abraham looked up and saw a single ram caught by its horns in the thicket. So Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering in place of his son.   Abraham named that place Yahweh-yireh; hence people today say, ‘On the mountain the LORD will provide’” (Gen. 22:7-14).
