“How to Hallelujah!” – Leddy Hammock

Inspired by lyrics from “Hallelujah Today!” by Denise Rosier:

“Running till my bones are aching, pushing past the point of breaking, The road is long but I will make it, that’s who I am.

It’s not the race but how I’m running, not who I was—who I’m becoming.
Steady on, I’ll finish strong on this path….
Every breath in me proclaims… Hallelujah Today!

With every mile, I’m reminded, I never go empty-handed.
God is my strength, I’m never stranded. I’m not alone.
Calling out like a siren of good and peace and joy resounding,

Hear me now – I’m ringing out around the world!
In every song I sing, in every part of me, in everything . . .
Every breath in me proclaims Hallelujah today!”

“When they drew near to Jerusalem,. . . he sent two of his disciples and said to them, ‘Go into the village opposite you, and immediately on entering it, you will find a colt tethered on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone should say to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ reply, ‘The Master has need of it and will send it back here at once’” (Mk. 11:1-3).

With every mile, I’m reminded I never go empty-handed.
God is my strength I’m never stranded, I’m not alone.

“This happened so that what had been spoken through the prophet might be fulfilled . . . The very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and strewed them on the road. The crowds preceding him and those following kept crying out and saying: ‘Hosanna to the Son of David; blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord; hosanna in the highest’” (Mt. 21:4-9).

Every breath in me proclaims Hallelujah today!

“As he rode along, the people were spreading their cloaks on the road; and now as he was approaching the slope of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of his disciples began to praise God aloud with joy for all the mighty deeds they had seen. They proclaimed: ‘Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord. Peace in heaven and glory in the highest” (Lk. 19:36-8).

The road is long but I will make it, that’s who I am. It’s not the race but how I’m running, not who I was, who I’m becoming. Steady on, I’ll finish strong on this path.

“ And when he entered Jerusalem the whole city was shaken” (Mt. 21:10). “…The crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from death continued to testify. This was [also] why the crowd went to meet him, because they heard that he had done this sign” (Jn. 12:17-18). “Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.’ He said in reply, ‘I tell you, if they keep silent, the stones will cry out!’ (Lk. 19:39).

Hear me now, I’m ringing out around the world!
In every song I sing, in every part of me, in everything,
every breath in me proclaims, Hallelujah today!
