One Step – August 11, 2019

Inspired by lyrics from “One Step” by Harold Payne:

“I get my inspiration from the words of the children. I’m trying to teach myself what they already know.

If I can show my fellow man what a child can understand then the seeds that I have sown will surely grow.

If I take one step in the right direction. If I touch one heart along the way.

And if that one step becomes a chain reaction, then my journey has not been in vain.”

“Stand up. Do not be moved by the forces around you. You are in control. We can all save the world together, one step at a time.” — Mahatma Gandhi

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me, then you will also know my Father” (John 14:6-7).

“If I take one step in the right direction. If I touch one heart along the way. If that one step becomes a chain reaction, then my journey has not been in vain.”

“Enter through the narrow gate, for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many. How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few” (Matthew 7:13-13).

“If I take one step in the right direction. If I touch one heart along the way. If that one step becomes a chain reaction, then my journey has not been in vain.”

The disciples “had been discussing among themselves on the way who was the greatest. Then he sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, ‘If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all. Taking the child he place it in their midst, and putting his arms around it he said to them, ‘Whoever receives one child such as this in my name, receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me the but One who sent me’” (Mark 9:33-7).

I am learning to trust what every Child of God really knows: how to go within and follow the guidance of the Christ within, one step at a time.

Jesus said, “Come, follow me . . . . For human beings this is impossible, but for God all things are possible” (Mt. 19:21-6). “If one walks during the day, he does not stumble, because he has the light . . . . If one walks at night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him” (John 11:9-10).

“If I take one step in the right direction. If I touch one heart along the way. If that one step becomes a chain reaction, then my journey has not been in vain.”
