“The Mystical Meal” – Leddy Hammock

“The Mystical Meal” – Leddy Hammock

Inspired by “Fill Me Now” by Sue Riley:

Here I stand, an empty vessel.  Quietly, I wait, a hollow shell.
As your love flows through me, I am still, I am still.
Mold me in Thy image.  Silence all my fears,
While I wait, obedient to Thy will.

Fill me now, fill me now, as I stand upon the crossroads of my life.
I am open and receptive, I stand silent for Your blessings.  Fill me now.

This bread which is my body; this wine, the life of Christ –
A spiritual communion, I am wise, I am wise.
I become Your chalice, open to my Source – an infinite outpouring of God’s love.

Fill me now, fill me now, as I stand upon the crossroads of my life.
I am open and receptive, I stand silent for Your blessings.  Fill me now.

“Before the feast of Passover, Jesus knew that his hour had come….  He rose from supper and took off his outer garments.  He took a towel and tied it around his waist.  Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and dry them with the towel around his waist. . . .  So when he had washed their feet [and] put his garments back on and reclined at table with them, he said to them, ‘Do you realize what I have done for you?..’If I, therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another’s feet.  . . . If you understand this, blessed are you if you do it’” (Jn 13:1-17).
