The View from Here – Leddy Hammock

This week’s lesson inspired by lyrics to “The View from Here” by Sue Riley, Melinda Wood Allen, and Sloan Wainwright:

I know this place. I know it by heart. I have met the Christ presence here and I see the Christ wherever I go.

I know this place. It has always been a part of me. I am sharing the Christ love with the whole world.

I know this place. I love this place, for I see the Christ in our midst of us, enfolding us in peace.

I know the Christ is always with us. Looking forward, I see the Christ lovingly leading us and watching over us. This is the view from here.

And behold, Jesus met [the disciples] on their way and greeted them. They approached, embraced his feet, and did him homage. Then Jesus said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. Go tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me’” (Mt. 28:9-10).

I know this place. I know it by heart. I have met the Christ presence here and I see the Christ wherever I go.

“As the eleven were at table, [Jesus] appeared to them and . . . said to them, ‘Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature” (Mk. 16:15).

I know this place. It has always been a part of me. I am sharing the Christ love with the whole world.

“While they were still speaking about this, [Jesus] stood in their midst and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’ . . . And [behold] I am sending the promise of my Father upon you; but stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high’” (Lk. 24:36-49).

I know this place. I love this place, for I see the Christ in our midst of us, enfolding us in peace.

“Jesus revealed himself again to his disciples at the Sea of Tiberias. . . . When it was already dawn, Jesus was standing on the shore . . . . Jesus said to them, ‘Come, have breakfast. . . . This was now the third time Jesus was revealed to his disciples after being raised from the dead. When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said… “Do you love me…? Feed my lambs…. Follow me…” (Jn. 21:1-19).

I know the Christ is always with us. Looking forward, I see the Christ lovingly leading us and watching over us. This is the view from here.
