The Wisdom of Waiting – Leddy Hammock

The Wisdom of Waiting – Leddy Hammock

This week’s lesson inspired by lyrics from “Waiting” by Karen Drucker:

“It’s not in trying, but in trusting. It’s not in running but in resting.

It’s not in wondering but allowing that we find the strength of the One. I am waiting, waiting, I allow myself to wait . . . .

When life is moving way too fast, I need to stop and take a breath to see what my heart wants me to do.

So, for now, I rest and I listen. I am waiting, waiting. I allow myself to wait.”

“Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for Justice!” (Psalm 31:24).

It’s not in running but in resting,
it’s not in wondering but allowing,
that we find the strength of the One.

“But they who wait for Justice shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).

I am waiting, waiting, I allow myself to wait.

“I wait for Justice, my soul waits, and in Truth I hope; my soul waits for Justice more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning” (Psalm 130:5-6).

When life is moving way too fast,
I need to stop and take a breath.
To see what my heart wants me to do.
So, for now, I rest, and I listen.

“Make me to know your ways, O Justice; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long” (Psalm 25:4-5).

Let us learn the kind of patience that believes it’s not too late
and the peaceful loving kindness that is wise enough to wait.
